    • Conservation, development and planned management of natural water sources of the state.
    • Development of scientific irrigation systems in accordance with limited water resources.

Minor irrigation work – a necessity

    • Minor irrigation schemes are prepared in a short time.
    • Soon farmers start getting benefits from them.
    • In these schemes, the expenditure of money is relatively less, so they can be implemented in large numbers.
    • Local resources and technology are used in minor irrigation schemes. Knowledge is used and the money spent mostly does not go out.
    • Local farmers and artisans get employment.
    • Farmers form water consumer groups as per their wish to use and operate these schemes.
    • These schemes are best for intensive agriculture.
    • Even if such schemes get damaged due to floods and landslides in future, there is no possibility of a major economic loss to the farmers and the government.
    • At places where implementation of big schemes is not possible due to special conditions, small irrigation schemes can be constructed easily.
